“Like a motorcycle, 50 years of motorcycling in Esplugues” is the title of the exposition organized by the Museum Can Tinturé with the collaboration of Moto Club Esplugues that counts with the support of the Esplugues Town Council and in addition of the Barcelona Deputation and the net of local museums.

The Barcelonesse population of Esplugues of Llobregat has been very linked to the motorcycling during the whole XXth century. We don’t have to forget that the Montesa motorcycles factory was in this municipality since 1963 to 2002, year in the one that they transferred the factory to Santa Perpetua of the Mogoda.

Nowadays there is a neighborhood of the population that carries that same name, “Montesa” and we may say that a great part of the “Montesa” motorcycles that still circulate were manufactured in the Esplugues factory of Llobregat.

Besides, during many years the city had motocross races in the Finestrelles circuit and speed races in the Fontsanta neighborhood during a lot of years.

In the exposition we will make a little walk through the historic memory of the motorcycling in the city. We will be able to see closely into the 4 M 0002 Montesa the first that was commercialized and the most ancient that is preserved. We can also see a Montesa Cappra VE 414 Official, the prototype with the one that Michel Combes the french pilot from the Montesa drove.

We will be able see a OSSA ( prepared to play motoball ), a Bultaco and a mini motorcycle in addition to the diverse motorcycling material and graphic documents from the fifties of the motorcycling in Esplugues.

The exposition will be open until March 16, 2008 and you can visit it from Tuesday to Sundays from 10 to 14pm. Wednesday and Saturdays from 16,30 to 20 hrs. On Saturdays the entrance is free.

Piaggio extends their scooters gamma with this amazing Scooter GT with 125 and 250 c.c. motorizations. The Italian brand has found two concepts in this new models, for one side is a compact Scooter oriented to the urban traffic and by the other has all the stability and protection that the Maxiscooters usually offer.

The X7 is a four-cycle motor, cooled by water and with four valves. In the 125 c.c. version is fed by carburator and develops 14,9 CV. In the 250 c.c. version incorporates an electronic injection supply and develops 22 CV to 8,250 rpm.

The chassis is a double-cradle steel, rigid and capable to tolerate a bigger scooter motor, the suspensions are joined to a conventional front fork in front and to a couple of rear shock absorbers. The 260 mm front disc and 240 mm behind is on charge of the braked.

Tubeless Pneumatic: 120/70 R13 in front and 140/60 R14 behind.

The X7 inherits from his older brothers the X8 and XEvo a dome that protect us from the wind and from the winter cold when we are by the highway. First of all: What is a Carver?

The Carver video demonstration

The achievement: Going over 4,300 km at the wheel of a Carver One around all Spain in less than 48 hours ( obeying speed limits ). The journalist Manuel Andújar will start from the Plaza of the Obradoiro of Santiago of Compostela the next March 3 with the aim of demonstrate the reliability and resistance of the pilot as well as the one of this hot and unique vehicle. The cabin and front wheel of this vehicle equipped with a 660 c.c. and 68 CV motor oscillates automatically toward the inside of the curve in the moment that we turn the steering wheel.

A surprisingly new, agile and fun vehicle to drive. Ducati Monster 696

Ducati presents, 15 years after the first naked designed by Miguel Galluzzi the new Monster 696. A true ’street fighter’ that the users will appreciate so much as for its design as for the few drivers experience.

His 4T bi-cylindrical 696 c.c. motor with electronic injection gets 80 CV to 9,000 rpm. It’s air-cooled and have a clutch with anti block system.

The multi tubular chassis has been redesigned completely by the engineers but now with bigger diameter tubes and a thin wall. The sub chassis is made completely in aluminum and it goes screwed in his underside and that grants bigger rigidity and a modern aspect.

The front suspension is in charge of a ‘Showa’ inverted front fork without possibility of regulation but the rear simple shock absorber with progressive system from the Sachs brand can be adjusted in preload and extension. We can stand out his oversized 320 mm front brakes with radial anchoring system.

All the new changes to the Monster 696 have been enabled to reduce their weight to 163 kg ( 7 kg less than the predecessor ).

Due to the quality of the materials with the ones they manufacture each Ducati 2008, Ducati assures in their Website that the time between the maintenance operations and the the refill costs had been reduced on each of the revisions, reaching in this way to a major cost saving up to 50 %.

Motorcycles Insurances

The Consumer magazine have an interesting article published the 12 of February of 2008. The particularities at the time of hiring an insurance for the motorcycle or quad.
